With much lower rolling resistance than its model for gas-powered cars, the Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV is the first all-season tire designed to meet the higher torque and weight specifications of electric vehicles. The dedicated EV tire sports a 'carefully optimized blend of polymers,' lower weight, and grooves redesigned for higher cornering loads.

After improved Tesla suspension parts, aftermarket companies are now coming with dedicated electric vehicle tires designed specifically for their higher torque and weight specifications. Billed as the first European all-season tire made for electric cars from the ground up, the Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV offers much lower rolling resistance thanks to an exclusive "optimized blend of fourth-generation polymers and 'smart' silica in the tread."

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV has been built to maximize electric and hybrid vehicles' battery range by providing both improved rolling resistance and a lighter structure thanks to an apex sitting lower, slimmed down sidewalls, and a lighter belt. Not only that, but the higher cornering load that electric vehicles subject their tires to has been accounted for by steepening the longitudinal grooves, while at the same time widening the outside shoulder to overcome deformation forces and ensure better handling in all weather conditions, including snow or rain.

Electric cars offer much more powerful rotational force from cold start than legacy gas-powered vehicles and that maximum torque from the get-go puts extra strain on the suspension and tires, as many an EV owner could attest, necessitating a different approach to aftermarket solutions.

In fact, the German engineers from Meyle developed aftermarket Model 3 and Model Y control arm and bushings that are tougher than the corrosion-prone OEM Tesla equivalents precisely because they said the original components aren't able to withstand the vicious torque forces and higher weight of those electric vehicles with sufficient longevity, resulting in the infamous squeaky and rattling Tesla suspension.

The same may go for EV rubber now, but those wanting to test out the first dedicated all-season electric car tire in Europe will be able to buy the Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV as soon as next month, while Meyle's aftermarket Model Y suspension will be released well into 2023. The exact Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV price and sizes will become available closer to launch, say the brand owners from Apollo Tyres.
