Xiaomi M20 Pro door lock comes with powerful features and numerous unlocking options

Xiaomi now has several different smart door locks on offer, having recently added another model to its range. The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 Pro is a combination of door lock and peephole, and comes with a camera that is said to offer 180° coverage and integrated AI functions. As soon as a person is in front of the door, both the doorbell and the display on the inside are automatically activated. Users do not necessarily have to look at the display, as streaming to a smartphone or tablet is also possible. 

A wide variety of unlocking methods are supported, including the use of biometric features. For example, unlocking is possible with a three-dimensional image of the face, which is useful if the user is loaded down with shopping or does not have their hands free. A fingerprint sensor is available, and unlocking is also possible via NFC cards and passwords. Such passwords can also be made valid for short periods of time, which could be a useful option for tradespeople or friends, for example. If the system fails, using a key is possible. An empty battery, on the other hand, is not an emergency, as the door lock can also be charged from outside via USB-C with a smartphone or power bank. The 5,000 mAh battery has an estimated runtime of up to one year.

In its home market of China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 Pro has a regular retail price of around $420. Information on a global release is not yet available and is unlikely. Alternatives such as the Arpha AL501 are available at Amazon.
