Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Cat's Eye Edition with voice changing tool now available
The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Cat's Eye Edition is now available to pre-order in China. The model follows the Wi-Fi edition of the E20 smart lock, which launched earlier this year. The two devices are almost identical, though the latest version features a camera, allowing you to see who is outside your door before you open it.
The Smart Door Lock E20 Cat Eye Edition has a 172° wide angle 2.3MP camera with a f/2.4 aperture, producing HD video. You can view the video anytime, with alerts showing live footage on multiple connected screens, such as your phone, TV and smart home hub. You can unlock the device in various ways, like using the integrated fingerprint scanner with a 99.2% recognition rate and 0.5s scanning time. Other methods include passwords, NFC, Bluetooth and a physical key.
The Mijia-compatible smart lock has a built-in doorbell, microphone, and speaker that enable you to talk to callers; an added security feature provides multiple voice-changing settings to guard your identity, should you wish. Other tools of the Wi-Fi device include AI human detection and three days of free cloud storage for recordings. The gadget's 5,000 mAh batteries can last up to twelve months, recharging via USB-C. You can pre-order the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Cat's Eye Edition in China for 1,299 yuan (~$182), a discount on the 1,399 yuan (~$196) RRP, with a 100 yuan (~$14) deposit. Whether or when the smart home gadget will arrive in other markets is unclear.
