MagyarXiaomi’s cheaper label printer with app controls now available worldwide
The Xiaomi Mijia Label Printer is now available globally via AliExpress. The gadget was initially launched via a successful crowdfunding campaign in China and is now on general sale in the region. Xiaomi suggests you could use the labels for food in your kitchen, items in your bathroom, or to produce the date for your planner.
The Mijia Label Printer does not require ink; it uses thermal printing technology with a 203 DPI resolution. The maximum length of a single label is 150 mm (~5.9-in), with Xiaomi suggesting they are long-lasting thanks to their waterproof and oil-proof nature. Wi-Fi lets you control the printer on your phone via the Xiaomi app. Features include reminders to print a label, custom shortcuts and offline printing. The portable gadget is 80 mm (~3.1-in) wide, weighs around 130 g (~4.6 oz) and has a 1,200 mAh battery, recharging via USB-C.
The Xiaomi Mijia Label Printer retails in China for 99 yuan (~$14). At AliExpress, US and EU customers can purchase the device for around $20/€26, with delivery currently estimated for early to mid-January. The AliExpress page notes that, given this is a Chinese version of the device, you need to set your location in the Xiaomi app to China mainland to access the full functionality of the gadget; this is separate from the language setting. The device comes with a USB cable and a 2 m (~6.6 ft) roll of white paper. You can add more rolls to your purchase, including a transparent option.
