New Xiaomi CW700S launches as cheaper outdoor camera with 9X zoom
Xiaomi has launched the CW700S outdoor camera in China. The smart home device features dual cameras for increased image clarity over greater distances with up to 9X zoom. The 4MP cameras have a f/1.6 aperture and produce 2.5K (2,560 x 1,440 px) video.
The CW700S also has 850nm infrared full-color night vision, again covering a wider area compared to the technology used in older models. The camera can rotate up to 355° horizontally and 110 vertical° with AI person and vehicle detection. Built-in speakers and a microphone enable two-way voice communication, or you can warn off intruders with an audible alarm. You can choose to receive app notifications when the camera detects movement, and the device can also be linked to various Xiaomi brand TVs and speakers.
Dual antennas improve the stability of the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal, or you can connect via an Ethernet port. Storage options include a local microSD card, the cloud and NAS devices. The outdoor camera is rated as IP66 water and dust-resistant, operating in temperatures from -30 to 60°C (~-22 to 140°F). You can now buy the Xiaomi CW700S outdoor camera in China for 399 yuan (~US$56), making it relatively cheap. It is unclear whether or when the gadget could launch in other markets. Older models like the AW300 outdoor camera are already available in countries like Germany.
