Xiaomi CW300: Inexpensive outdoor surveillance camera with Wi-Fi, Ethernet and memory card offers IR and lighting
Xiaomi is also a manufacturer of smart home products and has introduced a new surveillance camera, the CW300 Outdoor Camera. This device is currently only available in China for a price equivalent to roughly US$35, which is supposed to be an introductory price. Information about a possible international launch is not yet available, but there is nothing to suggest that this will not happen.
The CW300 Outdoor Camera is, as can be seen from just looking at the product photo, has a wide range of vision. The camera can be swiveled to the left and right and up and down. This is very useful for an outdoor camera if larger areas need to be covered with just one camera. Speaking of outdoor, the CW300 is IP66-certified and thus offers protection against ingresses of dust and water, particularly rain.
A 4 MP camera with an F1.6 lens is installed, which should provide good image quality in less-than-optimal brightness conditions. At night, the CW300 can operate inconspicuously via IR LEDs as well as white LEDs, allowing it to record videos without any ambient light at all. Alarm functions are also available so that unwanted visitors can be scared off with sound or light.
Camera recognition of familiar people is reportedly possible with the help of AI. Lastly, users have several options for connecting to the camera, namely via a network cable and via Wi-Fi, while storage on a memory card is also possible.
