It seems that Asus will soon have a rival on its hands to its upcoming 540 Hz and 27-inch gaming monitor. Presented last month during Computex 2025 in Taipei, Asus revealed scant details about the monitor beyond it having a 4th Gen OLED panel produced by LG Display that resolves natively at 1440p.
Now, Super Display Co (SDC) has been spotted teasing an equivalent monitor, which has been reposted to Reddit. Translated roughly as 'Flash 540-Meta OLED', the monitor appears to feature the same underlying panel as Asus' that is due to arrive in late Q4 2025. However, the Flash 540-Meta OLED is said to peak at 720 Hz by reducing its resolution, presumably via LG's Dual Mode Technology.
Unfortunately, it is currently unclear to what level the Flash 540-Meta OLED must drop its resolution. If recent UltraGear OLED monitors like the 32GX870A (curr. $1,399.99 on Amazon) are anything to go by, then the Flash 540-Meta OLED may only be capable of delivering a 720 Hz refresh rate at 720p. SDC reports that the Flash 540-Meta OLED will offer DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports, too.
As a result, the monitor may need to revert to Display Stream Compression (DSC) to hit 720 Hz or even 540 Hz at 1440p. The image also indicates that LG Display's new panel provides 0.03 ms response times, a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio, CMR 150,000 motion clarity and 335 nits full panel brightness that extends to 1,500 nits in certain areas. Pricing and availability remain unconfirmed for now, although VideoCardz asserts that the Flash 540-Meta OLED could reach JPY 150,000 (~$1,040).
