LG has expanded its UltraFine monitor series with the 40WT95UF, which appears destined to receive a global release later this year. For context, the company has focused on introducing new OLED monitors lately, such as the UltraGear OLED 45GX950A (curr. $1,999.99 on Amazon). Unfortunately, the UltraFine 40WT95UF misses out on OLED panel technology.
Instead, LG has included an IPS panel, which it markets as ‘IPS Black’ technology. Typically, an IPS Black panel should provide significantly deeper blacks than a conventional IPS panel for a superior contrast ratio too, LG has not revealed details about either yet, though. Instead, it has confirmed that the UltraFine 40WT95UF outputs natively at 5,120 x 2,160 for what is also called a 5K2K resolution.
As its name suggests, the new monitor also spans 40-inches diagonally with a 21:9 aspect ratio. On top of that, the UltraFine 40WT95UF delivers a 120 Hz refresh rate aided by AMD FreeSync Premium technologies. LG boasts that the monitor features Thunderbolt 5 connectivity too, adding that the UltraFine 40WT95UF is the first 5K2K monitor to offer the high bandwidth port. By the looks of things, Thunderbolt 5 is the main difference from the older UltraFine 40WP95XP. LG has not revealed pricing or availability yet. However, more details can be found on the company’s website.
