Vivo has set off on another round of teasers for its next flagship smartphone. To start with, the company showcased that the X Fold5 would be measurably lighter than the X Fold3, which remains the lightest book-style foldable at 219 g over a year after its initial release.
Now, Vivo has taken aim at the iPhone 16 Pro Max (curr. $1,089 - refurbished on Amazon) with its latest set of teasers. Embedded below, the new images follow a theme of Vivo comparing its forthcoming devices against Apple’s flagship iPhone. For context, the company used the iPhone 16 Pro Max to draw camera comparisons with the X200 Ultra earlier this year.
Like Oppo before it, Vivo has positioned its latest foldable as being significantly thinner than Apple’s flagship iPhone in the former’s opened state. Exact dimensions remain unknown for now, although the X Fold5 looks to be roughly half as thick as the iPhone 16 Pro Max when opened. If that is the case, then that would make the X Fold5 circa 4.1 mm or 4.2 mm thick.
However, internal bezels will likely add about 0.7~0.8 mm to its overall thickness, which would explain why the X Fold5 is thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max when closed. Nonetheless, Vivo’s next foldable should undercut its existing X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro, in terms of size. Presumably, Vivo will reveal more details about the X Fold5 in the next few days.
