MSI has filled in a few more pieces of the puzzle when it comes to its first 500 Hz OLED gaming monitors. To recap, the company lifted the lid on the MPG 272QR X50 in January alongside the MPG 272URX (curr. $1,034.99 on Amazon). Then at the start of the month, it unveiled the MAG 272QP X50 with broadly the same specifications as the MPG 272QR X50. Following that announcement, it presented the MPG 271QR X50 with the same underlying QD-OLED panel technology.
According to TFTCentral, MSI has in fact re-branded the MPG 272QR X50 as the MPG 271QR X50. From what the website has learned at Computex 2025, MSI hopes to begin producing the MPG 271QR X50 this July with a release in mind 'around September time'. TFTCentral adds that the monitor should retail for $899; other regional pricing has not emerged yet, though.
Meanwhile, the MAG 272QP X50 is already said to be in production ahead of a global release this July. The inclusion of the MAG 272QP X50 on MSI's global website supports this, as does the fact the monitor is already available in China for CNY 5,999 (~$829). Reportedly, the MAG 272QP X50 will arrive in the US for $849, which puts it within $50 of the MPG 272QR X50.
In summary, the MPG 272QR X50 adds DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) connectivity, a 98 W USB Type-C port, USB Type-A ports and MSI's latest OLED Care 3.0 technologies aided by the company's 'AI Care Sensor'. By contrast, the MAG 272QP X50 settles for DisplayPort 1.4, a 15 W USB Type-C port, no USB Type-A ports and MSI's older OLED Care 2.0 technology. Arguably, these features make the MPG 272QR X50 a more attractive proposition than the MAG 272QP X50, given their similar pricing. As a result, TFTCentral speculates that MSI will adjust MAG 272QP X50 pricing once the MPG 272QR X50 officially arrives.
