Samsung's latest 49-inch OLED gaming monitors are now available after being initially showcased in January during CES 2025 in Las Vegas. As TFTCentral notes, the Odyssey OLED G9 G93SD and Odyssey OLED G9 G95SD share the same underlying QD-OLED panel. However, Samsung distinguishes the pair by the latter's additional Smart TV features.
To recap, the Odyssey OLED G9 G93SD and Odyssey OLED G9 G95SD output at 5,120 x 1440 pixels in what is often referred to as a Dual QHD or DQHD resolution. Bearing an 1800R curvature and a 32:9 aspect ratio, the pair also deliver a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.3 ms GtG response times aided by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync technologies. On top of that, the two panels boast 99% DCI-P3 colour space coverage with 250 nits full panel (SDR) and 1,000 nits (3% APL) HDR brightnesses.
As usual, Samsung applies an anti-glare coating to diffuse reflections, albeit at the expense of a somewhat grainy finish. Meanwhile, the Odyssey OLED G9 G95SD adds Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 5 for use with streaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass. Both monitors feature DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C ports for connecting external devices, though.
As a result, the Odyssey OLED G9 G93SD undercuts the Odyssey OLED G9 G95SD by $200 with a $1,699 MSRP. Early discounts have reduced that gap to $100 though, albeit not across all retailers. Currently, Amazon US is the cheapest option for the Odyssey OLED G9 G93SD, where it sells for $1,299.99. Meanwhile, Amazon, B&H Photo Video, Best Buy, Newegg and Samsung itself are now selling the Odyssey OLED G9 G95SD for $1,399.99.
