The 55-inch Samsung QN85D Neo QLED 4K TV has recorded a substantial 38% or $498 price drop on Amazon. The reduced price of $799.99 is the lowest ever for the TV, according to camelcamelcamel. Courtesy of a high-contrast VA panel, Mini LED backlighting, support for 4K@120 Hz output, and good upscaling, $799.99 is a pretty good price for the Samsung QN85D 55-inch TV (linked at the end).
Samsung QN85D is plenty bright and colorful
Despite being an affordable mid-range 4K TV, the brightness and contrast of the Samsung QN85D are impressive for the price. Rtings’ review lists a Peak 25% HDR Brightness of just under 991 nits and Real Scene Peak SDR Brightness of 768 nits. Combined with excellent contrast with Local Dimming enabled, good HDR color volume, and DCI-P3 coverage, the Samsung QN85D will be a treat to watch movies/shows on.
However, we must warn here that, per Rtings, the Samsung QN85D's reflection handling from direct light sources leaves a lot to be desired. So, be sure that the area where you’ll be installing the Samsung QN85D doesn’t have any bright light sources behind the TV.
Moving to gaming, the Samsung QN85D features a native 120 Hz refresh rate, support for AMD FreeSync/Nvidia G-Sync VRR technologies, and has low input lag. Gamers also get access to features such as Black Frame Insertion to enhance motion clarity and full Xbox/PlayStation compatibility.
Long story short, if you are short on cash but want a bright Mini LED TV, the 55-inch Samsung QN85D on sale is a sensible choice at the discounted price.
