Rumors have been circulating for months that the Apple iPhone will get a completely redesigned user interface via the iOS 19 update, which will focus significantly on transparency and depth, similar to visionOS 2. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple is planning extensive design updates this year not only for iOS and iPadOS, but also for macOS, watchOS and tvOS.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says that watchOS 12 and tvOS 19 will receive a "redesign" to match the new look of iOS 19. The report does not provide any specific details on what new features users of an Apple Watch or an Apple TV 4K can expect. However, it shouldn't be too long before the new user interface is officially announced, as Apple's operating system updates are usually announced during the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), which kicks off on June 9.
Following these operating system updates, the user interface of all Apple devices is set to become more standardized than ever. One of the most exciting new features is artificial intelligence, which is expected to extend the battery life of the iPhone, while the iPad is rumored to be getting numerous multitasking upgrades, starting with a macOS-style menu bar that appears when an external keyboard or keyboard case is connected. While competitors such as Google are focusing primarily on new AI features, software design is expected to be the focus of WWDC rather than Apple Intelligence.
