Just in time for Father's Day, Amazon has slashed the price of both the Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen and Apple Watch 10 by up to $100, bringing them near their historically lowest-ever prices.
The Apple Watch 10 is Apple's current mainstream wearable. The watch is powered by Apple's S10 chip, which features a 64-bit dual-core processor and a four-core Neural engine. It has the usual smattering of sensors for a wearable, including a heart-rate monitor, temperature sensor, compass, altimeter, accelerometer, and more. It also features Apple's crash detection software that can sense if the user has been involved in a car crash and can contact emergency services. The Watch 10 is water resistant to 50 meters and comes with either a 42 mm or 46 mm aluminum or titanium case and OLED display.
The Watch SE 2 (or Watch SE 2nd Gen) bears a striking resemblance to the older Watch Series 9 and Watch Series 8. It is powered by Apple's S8 chip, which has a 64-bit dual-core processor and a dual-core Neural Engine. It has many of the same sensors as the Watch 10, although its heart rate sensor is one generation older. It also has similar crash detection software and hardware as the Watch 10.
The Apple Watch family is often regarded by users and critics alike as one of the best general-use smartwatches, provided the wearer also has an iPhone. The heart rate sensors on the Watch 10 and Watch SE 2 tend to be fairly accurate (or at least accurate enough for general health and workout data).
However, Apple's watches are often criticized for their paltry battery life compared to other wearables; while most smartwatches like those from Garmin or Fitbit can last days on a single charge, Apple's Watches tend to die after a single day. Keep in mind that the Apple Watch 10 and Apple Watch SE 2 have quite a few more features than simpler smartwatches and fitness trackers.
The Apple Watch 10 can be had for either $299 (42 mm case) or $329 (46 mm case) at Amazon, each of which are $100 off their respective MSRPs. The Apple Watch SE 2 is on sale for $169 at Amazon, or $80 off its MSRP.
