Apple’s alleged redesign of iOS with iOS 19 has been the topic of much debate over the past few weeks. The new OS is said to bring “major” changes to the user experience including both visual and functionality improvements. The latest leak comes from known leaker Jon Prosser who claims to have seen an internal build of the upcoming OS and it shows new rounded app icons, changes to certain UI elements and TabView, and more.
Prosser shared the update on his YouTube channel fpt (Front Page Tech), stating that his team has seen a close to final version of iOS 19. The video put together by fpt shows several visual changes to iOS compared to the current iOS 18, including rounded app icons. It is believed that these visual changes are more in line with how Apple’s visionOS for the Vision Pro looks, but the AR/VR headset has circular icons as opposed to more ‘squircle’ ones seen in Prosser’s video.
The video also showed changes to some animations and placement of UI elements like search bars. The volume and brightness sliders in the Control Center appear to be more rounded. Apple’s native apps, as well as third-party apps, are said to get improved TabView with cohesive animations that look more like Dynamic Island animations.
Furthermore, Prosser stated that the iPhone 17 Pro models with iOS 19 will be able to record with the rear and front camera at the same time. Notably, this feature was available on the Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2013.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in the past few weeks, has also stated that iOS 19 will bring a major upgrade to the operating system, so while Apple is scheduled to unveil the new OS at WWDC starting June 9, these leaks have garnered credibility to a certain extent.
