Apple’s long awaited Siri updates have been in the pipeline for a while, even missing their original release timeline. Now, a new report states that the revamped Siri will arrive this fall, which is when iOS 19 is expected to be released. This seems to be the result of the major shake-up in Apple’s management team involved with bringing Apple Intelligence features to Siri. The internal leadership change seems to have brought things back on track with the company finally being able to deliver on its promises.
The information comes from The New York Times, as per a report by 9to5Mac. It states that Apple plans to release a revamped Siri in the fall and it will be capable of editing and sending a photo to a friend. The report mentions that this information comes from three people with knowledge of the company’s plans. Since the report mentions just this one feature in particular, it is unclear if all the other Apple Intelligence features promised for Siri will be available in the fall as well.
It makes sense that Apple will not release just one feature update for Siri and that all the improvements that were promised last year.
Early in March, Apple announced that the more personalized experience for Siri will take longer than expected and that it will arrive “in the coming year.” At that point, it was unclear what the timeline for the update will be, but now it looks like the new features will be available with the launch of iOS 19, expected in September, or in the following months, but still within this year.
There had been reports of Siri failing to answer simple questions, which has been a pain point for iPhone users for quite a while. The revamped Siri experience is expected to address these shortcomings and bring significant improvements to how Siri works.
