A recent Bloomberg report states that Apple Intelligence-powered Siri will launch in 2025, which might disappoint some users who were expecting an update sooner. As per the report, Apple is planning a Q2 release timeline for the new, improved voice assistant. The company will also add also more features, such as AI-assisted photo retouching.
Siri will gradually become more helpful over the next year, with a bigger, more significant leap in functionality. The upgraded voice assistant will be capable enough to compete with the likes of smarter AI, like the Google Assistant. The new Siri will handle commands in continuity, while also being able to interpret the content on the user's screen (Apple calls it onscreen awareness) and execute more complex instructions than ever before. While users will have to wait a bit more to try out the new assistant, a UI-targeted update will likely bring a whole new design to Siri this year itself, with the possible inclusion of ChatGPT as a smart assistant option.
The report also states that app developers will play a key role in Siri's upgrade timeline by providing "app intents" that allow the assistant to access specific features within their apps. Apple is likely to reveal more details closer to the iOS 18.4 release date.
