MSI has previewed another new 27-inch gaming monitor, just a day after earmarking a Mini LED-backed option for a global release. This time, the company has unveiled the MAG 272QP X50 in a return to its frequent usage of QD-OLED panels sourced from Samsung Display.
To recap, MSI presented the MPG 272URX and MPG 272QR X50 at the start of the year. However, only the MPG 272URX (curr. $1,099.99 on Amazon) is available to purchase for now. Nonetheless, MSI recently unveiled a cheaper alternative to the MPG 272URX by way of the MAG 272UP X24. Now, it has done the same for the MPG 272QR X50 via the MAG 272QP X50.
As far as we can tell, the pair feature the same Gen 4 QD-OLED panel with a 2,560 x 1,440 and 500 Hz native output. According to ITHome, the MAG 272QP X50 is also VESA ClearMR 21000 and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, which is in line with the MPG 272QR X50. Likewise, the MAG 272QP X50 offers 0.03 ms GtG response times, just like its MPG series sibling.
The website adds that MSI will begin selling the MAG 272QP X50 on May 16 in China. ITHome has confirmed that the monitor will retail for CNY 5,999 (~$829) too, which would make it CNY 1,000 (~$138) cheaper than the MPG 272URX. It remains unclear how MSI has distinguished the MAG 272QP X50 from the MPG 272QR X50 for the time being. Typically, MSI's MAG monitors contain downgraded or fewer ports than MPG equivalents though, such as missing USB connections.
