The new AOC U27G4R gaming monitor is particularly interesting due to its versatile dual-frame panel, which lets users choose between 4K at 160 Hz and 1080p at 320 Hz. Additionally, Adaptive Sync can prevent screen tearing as long as games are rendered with at least 48 fps. Apart from the dual-frame feature, the fast IPS panel also promises a full-screen brightness of 400 nits.
The sRGB color space is covered by almost 125%, Adobe RGB by 94% and DCI-P3 by 96%. The 0.3ms response time at 320Hz can make this monitor a good choice for competitive gamers, and AOC has also developed a new stand that takes up less space on the desk and is so flat that a keyboard can be placed on it. The 4K monitor is also height-adjustable by about 5 inches and can be pivoted in order to use it in portrait mode.
The monitor further supports a range of gaming features, including an FPS counter, brightening dark areas and showing a crosshair in the center of the screen. Gaming PCs and gaming consoles can be connected via two HDMI 2.1 ports or DisplayPort 1.4. AOC apparently decided against USB-C connectivity to keep the price affordable, but the gaming monitor does have a USB-A hub with four ports and up to 5Gbit/s.
Price and availability
The AOC Gaming U27G4R monitor with its 360Hz dual-frame mode is expected to hit the European market in May 2025 for an MSRP of €369 or £299. This makes the AOC screen slightly more affordable than competitors like the Asus ROG Strix XG27UCG (from $449 on Amazon), which is equipped with a comparable dual-mode panel.
