For regular users of smartphones or monitors, imperfect colors are probably not much of an issue, even though it can make them look unnatural. But for professionals, accurate colors are of utmost importance when editing photos or videos, for example.
With that in mind, Eizo has now added the ColorEdge CG3100X to its lineup, which is another high-resolution monitor that supposedly offers very accurate colors. The 4K screen has an integrated sensor that regularly checks for color deviations. It’s used to calibrate colors automatically, but alternatively, Eizo’s ColorNavigator software can be used for manual adjustments. The Japanese company also offers ColorNavigator Network software to manage multiple Eizo monitors.
Furthermore, the new 4K monitor features an IPS panel and is suitable for editing HDR content thanks to a brightness of 500 nits. The gray-to-gray response time is listed as 15ms, and the monitor can cover 97% of the Adobe RGB and 99% of the DCI-P3 color space. The 30.5-inch screen also has a contrast ratio of 1,800:1 and 4K resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels. This is the resolution used in digital cinemas, which makes the monitor a good choice for editing and previewing movies.
In terms of connectivity, the new Eizo monitor sports USB Type-C, DisplayPort and HDMI. A USB hub with two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports is built-in, as is an Ethernet port. Last but not least, the USB-C connection can be used for image signals as well as powering devices like laptops or tablets.
