MSI is not waiting around when it comes to bringing new 27-inch gaming monitors to market. To recap, the company essentially confirmed last week that the MAG 272UP X24 will soon receive a global release as a cheaper alternative to the MPG 272URX that has been available for a few months now (curr. $1,099 on Amazon).
Now, the likes of TFTCentral have caught wind that MSI is preparing to sell another 27-inch option by the name of MAG 274UPDF E16M. However, while the MAG 272UP X24 and MPG 272URX leverage Gen 4 QD-OLED panels from Samsung Display, MSI has turned to an IPS panel for the MAG 274UPDF E16M. As far as we can tell, this panel is the same as the one that Xiaomi uses in last month's Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U.
As a result, the MAG 274UPDF E16M outputs at 4K and 160 Hz natively with 0.5 ms GtG response times. Alternatively, the monitor can drop to 1080p to deliver 320 Hz visuals, albeit seemingly only via its single DisplayPort 1.4a (HBR3) port. Regardless of which resolution and refresh rate you opt for, the MAG 274UPDF E16M should cover 98%, 100% and 123% of the DCI-P3, AdobeRGB and sRGB colour spaces, respectively.
Arguably, the most notable feature of the MAG 274UPDF E16M is its 1,152 Mini LED local dimming zones, which help it achieve 400 nits SDR and 1,000 nits peak HDR brightnesses, plus VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification and Delta E≤2 colour accuracy. Pricing and availability remain unknown for now, although the inclusion of the MAG 274UPDF E16M on MSI's global website suggests that it will eventually receive a global release like the MAG 272UP X24, too. Please see MSI's website for more technical information.
