Most dual mode 4K OLED monitors demand a serious investment. Fortunately, this LG display switches between detailed imagery and high-refresh-rate gameplay at a reasonable price. The recently released OLED gaming monitor is currently enjoying its steepest discount yet.

With so many rivals, 32-inch OLED gaming monitors look for any way to distinguish themselves. This LG UltraGear display offers dual-mode functionality for a reasonable cost. Gamers can opt for 4K visuals at 165Hz, or gain a competitive advantage with a 1080p/330Hz alternative. Despite being a newcomer, the 32GX850A model is already $500 off at Best Buy, bringing the price to $799.99.

The new LG monitor boasts a glossy screen that enhances vivid imagery. On the other hand, in well-lit rooms, the display may suffer from distracting reflections. A maximum brightness of 275 nits can overcome some of these side effects.

Most OLED gaming monitors share the same advantages, including deep blacks. The 32-inch LG UltraGear appears no different, with DisplayHDR True Black 400 compatibility. The result is an authentic reproduction of dim scenes from movies and games.

Buyers are often torn between esports displays and lower-refresh-rate 4K monitors. However, the 32GX850A accommodates both audiences with two modes. The OLED gaming monitor also supports G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro to minimize screen tearing. As expected, response times are rock bottom, with similar LG models achieving the advertised 0.03ms spec.

The LG monitor has an unassuming appearance, allowing it to blend into any setup. Available ergonomic adjustments are generous, and a pair of 7-watt speakers can preserve more desktop space. A 32-inch screen is often the maximum practical size for an ideal viewing distance.

The 32GX850A is a downscaled version of the pricier 32GX870A. Still, while a $500 discount is enticing, the OLED monitor on sale does lack a USB-C port with power delivery. That limits its usefulness in complex scenarios with laptops. Also, the more expensive UltraGear has higher refresh rate modes of 240Hz and 480Hz.

While some features aren’t class-leading, the 4K OLED monitor is versatile enough to overcome its deficiencies. At $799.99, the Best Buy deal also easily beats the Amazon low price of $1096.
