Only a month has passed since Asus introduced the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2. Nonetheless, the company has already renamed the monitor. Although the company has not confirmed as much, we suspect that the rebrand will help Asus distinguish its new monitor from the existing ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG (curr. $635.99 on Amazon).
Asus now commonly refers to the monitor as the XG27AQDMGR. However, the branding 'XG27AQDMG Gen 2' still appears on its global website for the time being. Setting that aside, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMGR departs from its predecessor with a 30% smaller stand, a Neo Proximity sensor and a TrueBlack Glossy film, the latter of which Asus explains in the following terms:
The TrueBlack Glossy film pairs a zero-haze optical layer with an advanced anti-reflective stack. The zero-haze layer keeps black hues intact in any lighting, allowing the monitor to deliver deep blacks even in bright environments. For gamers seeking pristine image quality throughout the day, not just in the evening hours, these monitors are ideal picks.
Additionally, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMGR offers a 1440p native resolution across its 27-inch panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GtG response times. Moreover, the monitor peaks at 1,300 nits in HDR mode. Unfortunately, Asus has not confirmed launch pricing yet despite listing the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMGR on its global website.
