Almost three years after introducing its first OLED monitor, BenQ is finally releasing new OLED gaming monitors. Part of the MOBIUZ series, the upcoming EX271UZ and EX321UZ will target the high-end, competitive gaming market with features like a 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms refresh rate, and the brand's Color Shuttle mode, which is said to improve the picture quality in AAA games.
The new monitors are based on Samsung's 4th Gen QD-OLED panel. At the top of the lineup, the MOBIUZ EX321UZ features a 32-inch panel with DisplayPort 2.1 (80Gbps) and DisplayHDR True Black 500. By contrast, the EX271UZ offers a more compact 27-inch display with DisplayPort 1.4 and DisplayHDR True Black 400. As expected, the latter comes in significantly cheaper than the 32-inch model, while the rest of the features remain largely the same across the board.
BenQ MOBIUZ EX321UZ & EX271UZ key features
As mentioned, the EX271UZ and EX321UZ are both 4K monitors with a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time, so they should offer a nice combination between crisp image quality and silky smooth gameplay. The EX271UZ has been listed with FreeSync Premium Pro, Motion Blur Reduction, and up to 1,000 nits brightness, which we expect to apply to the 32-inch model since it uses the same panel.
In addition, both models cover 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and will be calibrated from the factory. One unique feature of the BenQ monitors will be Color Shuttle, which provides more than 120 color profiles for AAA games. According to BenQ, the profiles "faithfully reproduce colors and details as intended by the developers," resulting in true-to-life game worlds.
Surprisingly, only the EX321UZ supports DisplayPort 2.1. The EX271UZ is limited to DisplayPort 1.4 but should still manage 4K gaming at 240Hz with Display Stream Compression. Both models also include HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz console gaming, USB-C with 90W power delivery, a built-in KVM switch, and HDMI 2.1-related features like ALLM and eARC.
Pricing and availability
The MOBIUZ EX271UZ will arrive in December for $999, while the EX321UZ, with its larger panel, improved HDR, and DisplayPort 2.1 support, will launch in February next year for $1,299. BenQ has also announced a 1440p QD-OLED model with a faster 500Hz refresh rate to take on similar monitors from Samsung, MSI, and AOC.
