Hisense has expanded its gaming monitor portfolio with a new release in China. While many rivals have turned to QD-OLED and W-OLED panels, Hisense has based the G7 Ultra around a 27-inch IPS panel supported by Mini LED backlights. Specifically, Hisense's latest gaming monitor finds itself with 1,152 backlight zones.
As a result, the G7 Ultra is said to cover 99% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces with a factory colour calibration to fewer than Delta E <2 deviations. Additionally, although the monitor outputs at 4K and 160 Hz by default, it can reach 320 Hz by dropping to 1080p while retaining 1 ms GtG response times. On top of that, G7 Ultra contains DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C video inputs with USB Type-A and Type-B ports thrown in too.
Moreover, the G7 Ultra is DisplayHDR 1400 certified. Thus, it should reach at least 1,400 nits peak brightness, which would put it just below high-end monitors like the Apple Pro Display XDR (curr. $4,999 on Amazon). However, Hisense claims that the G7 Ultra actually delivers 2,000 nits, which the monitor complements with a DC dimming mode.
The Hisense G7 Ultra retails for CNY 3,299 in China, which currently converts to around $462. Unfortunately, Hisense has not indicated whether it has any plans to offer its new Mini LED gaming monitor internationally.
