LG will be targeting the rapidly aging Korean, American, or Japanese populations with a new television set made with seniors in mind.
Called Easy TV, the new product line makes changes to the TV remote, menu, operation, and help functions aspects that its research showed make life with today's complex to navigate TVs easier for people aged 65 and above.
LG Easy TV for seniors price and features
- $1,980 (65-inch)
- $2,800 (75-inch)
The LG Easy TV won't come cheap, despite the lack of OLED panel. A similar 2025 LG 65-Inch 4K HDR Smart Quantum Dot NanoCell Mini LED evo TV is currently discounted to under $900 on Amazon. The 65-inch Easy TV version with comparable panel, however, will be priced close to two grand in South Korea, where the TV sets for seniors will launch on Monday, September 29. The larger 75-inch Easy TV will cost about $2,800 there, too, again a far cry from the $1,100 that a comparable 2025 LG evo AI QNED85A TV can be found on Amazon in the US.
The LG Easy TV for seniors may launch at a cheaper price when it arrives in the US, though. "We also aim to introduce this senior-focused product to overseas markets with rapidly aging demographics, including the United States and Japan," confirmed LG's product head.
Besides a new LG remote with larger buttons and brighter backlighting, the Easy TV for seniors will sport a convenient help key that will let friends or relatives take over and control the TV via the so-called LG Buddy.
"You can request help from family members by pressing the help button three times in succession or holding it down, like sending an SOS in Morse code. This will be helpful in emergency situations where seniors cannot make phone calls, such as after a fall," claimed the LG product exec.
In Korea, the feature is built on popular messaging networks like Kakao Talk, and also allows the kids to adjust settings, change inputs, or set programming for their parents from afar. The chat app integration in LG Buddy goes deeper than remote support, though. The user can also start video calls with friends and relatives via the TV set's camera, or exchange pictures and YouTube videos.
The LG Easy TV comes with a quick way to set daily pop-up reminders for everyday tasks like taking pills with voice commands called Live Alert. A set of brain development games and karaoke functionality via the remote's built-in mic round up the entertainment offerings.
Needless to say, the webOS menus and programming have been streamlined on the LG Easy TV, too, and made simpler to navigate, with a larger, more visible font. LG now plans to roll out the Buddy help option and other Easy TV features to more products like its StandbyMe 2 portable display, too.
