The LG StanbyME 2 is a portable 27-inch QHD smart display with a detachable design, Dolby Atmos speakers, and an α8 AI processor. It runs webOS 24, supports voice control, and offers up to 4 hours of battery life for flexible, cable-free use around the home.

LG has just launched the StanbyME 2, a 27-inch portable smart display designed for users who want flexibility in how and where they watch content. The screen supports both table-top and wall-mounted setups and can be rotated between portrait and landscape modes.

It also detaches from its stand with a single click and includes a built-in strap, allowing it to hang like a framed clock. These changes reflect a shift toward multipurpose displays that can fit into different parts of the home.

The StanbyME 2 uses a 2560 × 1440 QHD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, which is an upgrade over the previous Full HD resolution. This improvement makes it better suited for watching video content, working on documents, or using as a secondary screen.

The display runs LG’s α8 AI Processor, which adjusts brightness and color tone depending on surrounding light conditions. Sound is delivered through 10W side-firing speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and the output adjusts automatically based on the screen’s orientation. LG includes AI Sound Pro for virtual 9.1.2 surround sound and Clear Voice Pro to improve vocal clarity.

Battery life has been improved as well. Users can expect up to 4 hours of playback when unplugged. Charging is handled either through the docking stand or a USB-C cable. The display ships with webOS 24 and supports hands-free voice control. It also integrates with Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Google Home, and LG ThinQ.

Built-in apps include Mood Maker, which can turn the display into a digital photo frame or ambient screen, and Let’s Draw, a finger-based sketch tool. The screen itself is touch-enabled, though this input becomes inactive when used via HDMI or wirelessly mirrored from a PC or Mac.

Connectivity is relatively straightforward. The unit includes one HDMI port with eARC, two USB 2.0 ports, one 5V USB port, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 5.

A Game Optimizer dashboard is also available for casual gaming use. Accessibility options include high contrast mode, grayscale, and inverted colors.

The display weighs 4.3 kilograms on its own and 15.2 kilograms with the stand. Its dimensions without the stand are 623 by 364 by 28.5 millimeters. LG includes a mini remote and detachable power cable in the box. It supports AC input from 100 to 240 volts and uses less than 0.5 watts when in standby mode.

While the LG StanbyME 2 is not a budget device, its price reflects the added flexibility. It is currently priced at SGD 1,799, $1,404, INR 120,760, and CAD 1,599.99.

It is already available in Hong Kong and Türkiye, with launches planned in the US, Canada, Vietnam, and Singapore later this July. The UK, Germany, France, and Spain are scheduled to follow in August 2025.
