LG Electronics has revealed initial details about its first fourth-generation OLED gaming monitor. For context, the company claimed last month that it had started mass-producing its 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel under its LG Display subsidiary. At the time, LG Display was expected to deliver the panel to manufacturers like Gigabyte in time for late summer 2025 releases.
Now, LG has unveiled the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A, which appears to share the same panel technology as the MO27Q28G that Gigabyte showcased at Computex 2025 in May. For reference, LG's new monitor is not to be confused with the UltraGear OLED 27GX790A that it released earlier this year (curr. $799.99 on Amazon).
Ultimately, the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A and 27GX790A both span 27 inches diagonally and deliver 2,560 x 1,440-pixel native resolutions. However, the former should run about 20% more efficiently than the latter while providing roughly 15% higher peak brightness.
Specifically, LG claims that the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A reaches up to 1,500 nits, although likely only across a small portion of its panel at any one time. Regardless, the monitor also offers 99.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 280 Hz refresh rate, as well as VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 Clear Motion Rate 13000 certifications. For the time being, it is unclear when LG plans to release its first 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED-backed gaming monitor. Please see the video below for more details.
