LG Display has shed light on the development of what TFTCentral believes is at least two new WOLED panels that should arrive towards the end of the year. To recap, Asus shared early details about a forthcoming 4,000 nits and 540 Hz WOLED gaming monitor last month during Computex 2025.
LG Display does not mention 4,000 nits peak brightness in its press release. Instead, it clarifies that gamers should expect 1,500 nits across a small portion of the monitor's 27 inch panel (APL 1.5%). Nonetheless, this panel would get brighter than LG Display's current equivalent that can be found in monitors like the LG UltraGear OLED 27GX790A-B (curr. $899.99 on Amazon).
Moreover, this 540 Hz panel would be nominally faster than a 500 Hz equivalent produced by Samsung Display. Now found in an increasing amount of gaming monitors, this 500 Hz QD-OLED panel matches its upcoming LG Display counterpart with a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel native resolution and 0.03 ms GtG response times too.
As usual, LG Display has its Dual-Mode technology party trick up its sleeve as well though, which will allow the panel to hit 720 Hz when dropping to 720p. So far, only a single monitor produced by Super Display Co (SDC) has been spotted leveraging this rather niche 720p/720 Hz mode.
At this stage, LG Display hopes to begin mass-producing this 540 Hz option in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the company claims to have already started manufacturing an equivalent 27-inch WOLED panel that utilises 4th Gen Primary Tandem technology. Featuring a 1440p resolution, this other panel drops to a 280 Hz refresh rate. Apparently, the Gigabyte MO27Q28G could be the first example of this new panel, which the company showcased at Computex 2025. The MO27Q28G is anticipated to hit shelves later this summer.
