Insta360 has made its entry into the wireless microphone market with the launch of the Mic Air. The new wireless microphone arrives as a competitor to rivals such as the DJI Mic Mini.
Shaped like a coin and weighing just 7.9 grams, the Insta360 Mic Air has support for 48kHz sampling. It also has advanced noise cancellation and a windshield for cleaner audio. There are physical controls to turn on noise cancellation, mute the transmitter, or activate video recording.
The Mic Air can be purchased on its own or with a receiver which has a USB-C connector to plug into a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Currently, owners of the Insta360 X5 and Insta360 Ace Pro 2 do not need a receiver as the Mic Air connects directly to these cameras. However, Insta360 has revealed that support for more camera models will be added in the future.
The receiver, which has support for passthrough charging, has a transmission range of 300 meters in an open space with no obstructions and interference. The transmitter has a battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge and can be worn as a pendant or attached to your cloth using the included button magnet and clip magnet.
The Insta360 Mic Air is priced at $49.99 for the transmitter alone and goes up to $69.99 when you add a receiver. This is cheaper than the DI Mic Mini's $59 price or $89 with a receiver. The Insta360 Mic Air is available to buy now directly from Insta360 or from Amazon.
