When it comes to monitors, there's often a trade-off between refresh rate and resolution. Many modern monitors allow consumers to prioritise one at the expense of the other. For instance, they can opt for a higher resolution for productivity tasks and then switch to a higher refresh rate for gaming. The newly announced AOC U27U3XD embraces this flexibility, giving users a choice between 4K at 144 Hz and 1080p at 288 Hz. It supports HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-C for seamless connection to various sources.
Equipped with a 27-inch IPS panel, the U27U3XD is unlikely to deliver extremely high brightness levels or match the contrast levels offered by OLED or mini-LED displays. AOC claims that it features a typical brightness of 450 cd/m² in HDR mode and 350 cd/m² in SDR mode, with a typical contrast ratio of 2,000:1. The monitor also promises full sRGB coverage and a factory-calibrated average Delta E of under 2.
According to official specifications, the panel boasts a Moving Picture Response Time of 0.5 ms, and a grey-to-grey response time of 4 ms. One notable design element is a highly adjustable stand that allows users to not only tweak the monitor's height, tilt and swivel but also pivot it into portrait mode. The AOC U27U3XD supports AMD FreeSync, includes built-in KVM functionality (complete with USB ports for peripherals) and can display multiple video sources simultaneously. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
