MSI has followed Xiaomi by releasing a new Mini LED-backed gaming monitor in China. To recap, the latter introduced the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U in April with several improvements over the monitor it eventually offered globally as the Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27i (curr. $369.99 on Amazon). While it is unclear when Xiaomi will release the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U globally, MSI has already committed to selling the MPG 274URDFW E16M in other markets from next month.
In the meantime, the company has priced its new monitor for CNY 2,699 (~$375) before factoring in any launch discounts. By contrast, TFTCentral received word that MSI will target a $499 MSRP when the MPG 274URDFW E16M makes its way to the US in July. For reference, $499 currently converts to approximately ~CNY 3,583.
Like the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U, the MPG 274URDFW E16M utilises 1,152 Mini LED backlight zones to provide up to 400 nits SDR and 1,000 nits HDR peak brightnesses. As a result, MSI advertises the monitor as being VESA DisplayHDR certified. Also, MSI claims that its monitor offers 0.5 ms GtG response times with 4K/160 Hz and 1080p/320 Hz display modes.
To that end, the MPG 274URDFW E16M leverages DisplayPort 1.4a (HBR3), HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C (98 W PD) as video inputs. On top of that, MSI has included 3.5 mm, USB Type-B and Kensington lock slot connections. Please see MSI's website for more technical details.
