It may have taken a while, but more 500 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitors are finally available to purchase in some markets. For context, only Gigabyte and Samsung had released monitors using this panel so far. Even then, the MAG 272QP X50 and latest Odyssey OLED G6 have not received global releases yet to replace their 360 Hz predecessors like the Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDNG (curr. $729.99 on Amazon).
Now though, both Gigabyte and Philips have begun selling monitors featuring the same underlying panel technology in China. Of the two, the Philips Evnia 27M2N8500X is by far the cheapest at CNY 5,999 (~$836). By contrast, Gigabyte has decided to charge CNY 7,499 (~$1,046) for the Aorus FO27Q5P.
While the price difference may seem rather high, the Aorus FO27Q5P features far more ports than its Philips rival. Specifically, Philips includes DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), two HDMI 2.1, USB Type-B and two USB Type-A ports in the Evnia 27M2N8500X. Meanwhile, the Aorus FO27Q5P adds mini DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), DisplayPort 1.4 and USB Type-C ports to those that the Evnia 27M2N8500X offers.
Global availability for the pair remains unknown for now. However, TFTCentral indicated earlier this month that the Aorus FO27Q5P may be available from July onwards outside China. Asus and MSI have incoming alternatives too, all of which featuring the same QD-OLED panel that combines a 1440p resolution with a 500 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms GtG response times and excellent colour accuracy.
