ONE Monitor is a concept design that was submitted to the Red Dot Design Awards. It is unlikely to be launched and sold anytime soon, but the concept is certainly interesting. According to the device description, the monitor is made of 95% recycled materials and is said to be manufactured using "environmentally friendly processes."
Power is supplied via the same USB-C cable that is used to connect the monitor to the computer, so a separate power cable is not required. However, this has the disadvantage that the monitor only works in conjunction with computers that support USB-C Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode. The power consumption should not exceed 15 watts, as compatibility would be severely limited otherwise.
This eliminates the need for a cable, but has the disadvantage that a connected laptop cannot be charged via the monitor. This limits its usefulness in conjunction with a laptop, as the latter must be powered via a second cable. However, the concept is practical when the monitor is combined with either a desktop computer or a docking station.
ONE monitor is said to eliminate "superfluous" electronics, thus reducing power consumption in standby mode to 0 watts. However, the manufacturer has not yet confirmed any further details about its features, so it is unclear which panel will be used or how color-accurate, bright and high-resolution ONE monitor is.
