Asus has introduced another 32-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor, fresh from releasing the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDMR late last month in China. While the PG32UCDMR sits above the PG32UCDM in Asus' product line (curr. $1,199.99 on Amazon), the new ROG Strix OLED XG32UCDS sits just below it.
On the one hand, the XG32UCDS contains familiar features like a Gen 3 QD-OLED panel that resolves at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels while spanning 32-inches diagonally. Likewise, the panel delivers 250 nits full panel brightness in SDR mode, which drops to 450 nits (10% APL) and to 1,000 nits (3% APL) with HDR mode activated. Moreover, the new monitor boasts 0.03 ms GtG response times with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility on hand to mitigate image tearing at high framerates.
However, the XG32UCDS complements these features with a 165 Hz refresh rate rather than the 240 Hz equivalent provided by the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM and PG32UCDMR. Also, the XG32UCDS has a slimmed down port selection consisting of DisplayPort 1.4, USB Type-C, 3.5 mm jack and two HDMI 2.1 ports.
As always, Asus includes proprietary features like a custom heatsink and a 4:3 image mode designed to minimise input lag while maximising frame rates. According to Prad.de, Asus intends to sell the XG32UCDS for €1,049.90 (~$1,225) in the Eurozone. While there is no word yet on pricing for other markets, the XG32UCDS is set to receive a global release later this year by virtue of being added to Asus' global website.
