AOC Q27G4Z: Affordable new gaming monitor supports high refresh rate and pivot mode

The AOC Q27G4Z is a new monitor designed for gamers. Like many gaming-focused monitors, it supports very high refresh rates but has only a modest native resolution. The model boasts a 27-inch fast IPS panel with a 1440p resolution, which offers several advantages. It delivers sharper visuals than Full HD whilst significantly reducing hardware requirements compared to 4K, generally allowing for higher frame rates at the native resolution. Though the AOC Q27G4Z supports 240 Hz natively, overclocking the panel can increase the refresh rate to 260 Hz. However, this is only achievable through DisplayPort 1.4, as HDMI 2.0 is limited to a max refresh rate of 144 Hz. According to official specs, the monitor has a Moving Picture Response Time of 0.3 ms and a Grey-to-Grey response time of 1 ms.

The AOC Q27G4Z promises 99% sRGB coverage, with a Delta E below 2. Its typical brightness levels are 450 nits for HDR content and 350 nits for SDR. A VESA interface (100 x 100 mm) is included for mounting the display on a wall or monitor arm. Furthermore, the built-in stand allows users to adjust the display’s height, tilt and rotation. Notably, the monitor's pivot function gives you the option to use it in portrait mode – handy for tasks such as text editing and coding. The model is priced at around $180 in China, though its pricing and availability for other regions have yet to be announced.
