If you’re after high refresh rate performance but don’t really care for flashy RGB or futuristic monitor stands, AOC’s new Q27G4K keeps things pretty simple. This is a new 27-inch IPS gaming monitor with a 1440p resolution and a peak refresh rate of 400Hz.
Despite the toned-down design, the specs are anything but basic. It covers 100% of the sRGB space and 95% of DCI-P3, with a typical brightness of 350 nits and a peak of 450. Contrast sits at 1000:1 (typical for IPS), and the dynamic contrast rating is 8,000,000:1. HDR400 is supported, though you’ll still want realistic expectations here given the edge-lit panel. AOC is also offering full motion support. The Q27G4K has height adjustment (up to 130 mm), pivot, swivel (±30°), tilt (-5° forward to 23° back), and a VESA mountable stand.
As for gaming, there’s a good amount of software support too - FPS counters, black equalizer (Shadow Control), motion blur reduction, Adaptive Sync, FreeSync, and support for up to 400Hz through both DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 (thanks to DSC). Input lag should be quite low, with a 1 ms GtG response time and a 0.3 ms MPRT mode.
There are no built-in speakers, but users do get a headphone jack, Kensington lock support, and one DisplayPort cable in the box.
If you're looking for fast panel performance without an overdone "gamer aesthetic," the Q27G4K looks to be a monitor that ticks just about all the boxes. We should have further information regarding pricing and availability soon when AOC announces the same.
