LG Japan has revealed its latest 39.7-inch 120Hz 5K2K ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor with a curvature of 2500R and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity (40U990A-W).
Video editors can daisy chain two of these monitors to create a combined desktop resolution of 10,240 × 2,160 pixels, allowing for simultaneous viewing of the source and output during 4K video edits. A single panel also supports picture-in-picture mode.
The display supports HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 600 display of high dynamic range sources, with a color gamut of DCI-P3 99%. Variable refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium Technology help reduce tearing and stuttering, according to LG.
The monitor comes with dual 10-watt speakers and a built-in hub on an adjustable stand. The hub has a Thunderbolt 5 input (power delivery of 96W) and output port. An AC power plug provides additional power if needed for the two HDMI, one DisplayPort 2.1, and six USB-C 3.2 Gen2×2 ports. Ethernet (1000Base-T) and 3.5 mm headphone jacks are also present.
The 40U990A-W has an MSRP of 252,780 yen (~$1,740) and can be preordered from LG in Japan, with shipments beginning August 28. A similar model with Thunderbolt 4 is available on Amazon US today for those outside Japan.
