With the ProArt PA32UCE, Asus is now offering a monitor that is relatively affordable compared to other ProArt screens, but it does make a few compromises in terms of features. Buyers mainly have to make two sacrifices. First, the 31.5-inch IPS panel only has a refresh rate of 60Hz, and second, Asus uses a conventional LED backlight instead of mini LEDs.
Although the monitor has a full-screen brightness of up to 600 nits, this brightness is barely sufficient for mastering HDR videos. That said, HDR10 and HLG are supported. The panel further sports a 4K resolution, contrast ratio of 1,000:1, and 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. A special feature of the display is the built-in colorimeter, which pops out and automatically calibrates the Asus monitor with any additional hardware or software. This calibration can be started either via the on-screen menu or via the Windows or macOS app.
The monitor can automatically adjust its brightness thanks to an ambient light sensor. When the display is connected to a laptop via USB-C, it can be charged with up to 96 watts. Alternatively, two DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports are also available. Asus includes a USB hub with one USB-C and two USB-A ports, as well as a KVM switch that allows two computers to be controlled with the same set of peripherals. This feature set is rounded off by two 2-watt stereo speakers and a height-adjustable stand.
