LG has been releasing OLED gaming monitors at a rate of knots recently under its UltraGear OLED brand. For instance, the company released the UltraGear OLED 32GX850A across China, Hong Kong and the Netherlands less than a week ago. Prior to that, LG brought the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A to the US (curr. $849 on Amazon).
As we covered at the time, the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A is an early example of LG Display's Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel technology. For reference, this panel type is commonly referred to as a 4th Gen WOLED panel. Meanwhile, LG listed the UltraGear OLED 27GX704A in Japan earlier this month, too.
Confusingly, the UltraGear OLED 27GX704A relies on LG Display's older 2nd Gen WOLED technology despite its name. As we covered at the time, the UltraGear OLED 27GX704A outputs natively at 1440p across its 27-inch panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 275 nits peak SDR brightness that rises to 1,300 nits across small areas with HDR mode enabled.
According to Amazon US, LG intends to offer the UltraGear OLED 27GX704A in the US for $799.99, which is only $50 less than the more capable UltraGear OLED 27GX700A. Added to that, the UltraGear OLED 27GX704A lacks USB Type-C connectivity. As the image above shows, the monitor features DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-B and USB Type-A ports. Unfortunately, a precise release date remains unknown for now.
