We have previously reported on the manufacturer XPPen. The company offers accessories and displays, primarily for those working in professional contexts such as drawing or retouching. The Artist Ultra 16 is a new drawing tablet in this segment that features a touch display with pen input. The device measures 15.9 x 10.7 inches and sports a 15.6-inch screen. It uses AMOLED technology and covers 99% of both the Adobe RGB and sRGB color spaces. The display is advertised as Calman verified, which should ensure minimal color deviation out of the box. In the Adobe RGB color space, the average deviation is specified as Delta E < 1.1.
The 4K resolution comes in at 3840 x 2160 pixels, and XPPen specifies a refresh rate of 60Hz. Higher refresh rates, which the Artist Ultra 16 does not support, are mainly relevant for gaming and may not be a decisive factor here. The typical brightness of this screen is 350 nits. For pen input, the panel can detect 16,384 levels of pressure. The specified resolution is 5080 LPI, meaning the system can distinguish 5080 points per inch. Deviation in the center of the screen is under 0.4 millimeters, and pen input has a response time of less than 1 millisecond. The 4K AMOLED tablet also supports multitouch input with up to ten fingers. The model is available directly from the manufacturer for $810.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
