It looks like LG is finally preparing to launch its UltraFine 32U990A professional monitor. Announced during CES 2025 in January, news emerged earlier this month that the monitor could arrive before October rolled around. While that is true in some senses, it is also untrue in others.
Resembling an Apple Studio Display (curr. $1,699 on Amazon), the UltraFine 32U990A outputs at 6,144 x 3,456 pixels across its 31.5-inch IPS panel to deliver a 224 PPI pixel density. Additionally, the monitor delivers 98% DCI-P3 and 99.5% AdobeRGB colour space coverages with 450 nits peak SDR and 600 nits HDR brightness. Unfortunately, LG caps the monitor's refresh rate at 60 Hz, which is often the case for professional monitors where visual fidelity is valued more than image speed.
Moreover, the UltraFine 32U990A provides DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 and Thunderbolt 5 ports. LG has included two of the latter as well, which allows a pair of UltraFine 32U990A monitors to be daisy-chained and leaves a second free to connect an external device like a laptop or mini-PC. On top of that, LG has also included an adjustable stand, built-in speakers, two USB Type-C downstream ports and a single USB Type-C upstream port.
The LG UltraFine 32U990A will start at $1,999.99 in the US when pre-orders open on September 30. While pricing for other markets remains unknown for now, LG Germany has confirmed that a €250 coupon will be available when sales begin in Germany on October 12.
