OLED gaming monitors dominate the high-end gaming market, but they rarely come cheap, especially if you're after something in the 40-inch+ range. Fortunately, as part of its Techtober Sale, Best Buy has slashed a hefty $700 off the LG Ultragear OLED 45GX90SA-B, bringing it down to its lowest-ever price of $999.99.
The 45GX90SA-B is part of the 45-inch ultrawide monitors that LG has released this year. This model adds smart TV capabilities, native Nvidia GeForce Now streaming, and AI smarts on top of an already impressive 45-inch WOLED panel with competitive gaming features. It originally launched at $1,699.99 and has been discounted before at Best Buy and on the LG website, but never as low as we're seeing in the Techtober Sale right now.
LG Ultragear OLED 45GX90SA-B key features and highlights
The biggest highlight of this monitor is its size. At 45 inches, with an 800R curved screen and a 21:9 aspect ratio, it’s designed to fill more of your field of view, making games and movies feel noticeably more immersive. It pairs the screen with a 3,440 x 1,440 resolution, which may not be as sharp as the 45GX950A-B’s 5,120 x 2,160 panel, but according to Tom’s Guide, it still delivers detailed visuals. On top of that, the lower resolution should make it easier to hit the maximum 240Hz refresh rate in most games without needing a more powerful gaming PC.
Speaking of gaming, the 45GX90SA-B also features a 0.03 ms response time and supports both FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC, resulting in tear-free gameplay and little to no ghosting in competitive shooters and racing games. In addition, the built-in webOS platform brings more than just Netflix and Prime Video streaming. Owners can play games directly through cloud gaming apps like GeForce Now—a welcome addition for those without consoles or gaming PCs.
As for the rest of the features, the 45GX90SA-B can display true HDR content. It supports DisplayHDR True Black 400 and can hit up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness, allowing bright colors and highlights to really pop against its inky blacks. On top of that, it covers up to 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it a solid option for photo and video editing as well. One downside that Tom’s Guide points out in its review is the monitor’s tiny speakers, though that’s easily fixed with a budget soundbar.
Buyers can purchase the LG Ultragear OLED 45GX90SA-B for $999.99 at Best Buy and on the LG website. While this model isn’t currently listed on Amazon, the retailer has instead slashed the LG 45GX900A-B model without smart features down from $1,699.99 to $999.99 as part of its Prime Big Deals sale.
