A new update is rolling out to users of the Philips Hue Bridge. Software version 1971060010 is said to enhance the smart home hub’s security through one change. Plus, the release notes indicate that there are other minor improvements to the device, which should make it “even better”.

The Philips Hue Bridge is receiving a May 2025 software update, version 1971060010. It follows the company’s recent trend of monthly releases for the smart home hub. The earlier April 2025 update, software version 1970188010, was said to bring performance and reliability improvements.

Now, with software version 1971060010, the Philips Hue Bridge is more secure. The older self-signed certificates have been replaced with ‘proper’ HTTPS certificates; this means that certificates are now validated by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) like Cloudflare. This should mean that personal and sensitive information is better protected and interaction with apps and cloud services is safer.

Alongside this, the Hue Bridge is said to “work even better” after a few minor improvements. Unfortunately, the release notes do not explain where customers will feel the benefit of these changes.

The change log for Philips Hue Bridge software version 1971060010 suggests that the update is already rolling out to customers. It should be pushed to eligible devices automatically, as long as you have automatic updates switched on in the Philips Hue app. You can check that this is the case by going to Settings > Software update > Automatic update.
