Dyson has unveiled the PencilVac cordless vacuum cleaner. As its name suggests, this is a particularly thin model, with Dyson claiming that it is the slimmest vacuum cleaner in the world. It is 1.16 m (~3.8 ft) tall, and without the brush head it is 38 mm (~1.5 inches) thick. Plus, it is relatively light, weighing under 1.8 kg (~4.0 lbs).
The compact nature of the PencilVac is thanks in part to the Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor. It is just 28 mm (~1.1 inches) wide and rotates up to 140,000 times per minute, offering up to 55 AW suction power. According to Dyson, the new 22 mm (~0.9 inches) thick dust separation system can trap 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (~0.0003 mm). There is also a dust compression system to maximise the capacity of the onboard 0.08L dustbin.
The Fluffycones brush head is said to provide deep cleaning while preventing hair tangling. It has four conical rollers and supports two-way cleaning. Plus, the 94 mm (~3.7 inches) tall head can easily slide under furniture and is fitter with green LEDs to help you see dirt on the floor.
You can connect the PencilVac to the MyDyson app, where you can view information about the battery and the filter’s status. The vacuum comes with a magnetic docking station, which can house the vacuum cleaner’s accompanying accessories and an extra battery pack. Dyson estimates that the PencilVac can run for up to 30 minutes in Eco mode. An integrated display on the vacuum shows the remaining battery life as well as the current cleaning settings.
The Dyson PencilVac is expected to launch in Australia and European countries like Spain in the coming months, though an exact release date and pricing have yet to be revealed. Prospective customers in the US and the UK will have to wait a little longer, with the product expected to reach these markets in 2026.
