DJI is best known for its drones, but also offers other products such as action cameras, power stations and more. Now, robot vacuum cleaners are also part of its range. After various leaks and teasers in the recent past, DJI has now officially unveiled Romo, a standalone brand that is launching with three models: DJI Romo P, A and S.
These differ only in a few respects. The robot vacuum and mop boasts a suction power of 25,000 Pa, putting it at the top. LiDAR and two cameras, all located at the front, are used for navigation and obstacle detection. This eliminates the need for the traditional laser tower on top. DJI promises that objects lying flat on the floor, such as playing cards, as well as damp spots, will be detected.
For mopping, DJI installs the two usual rotating mops at the rear of the robot vacuum. Other standard features include an extendable side brush and a split roller in order to prevent hair tangling.
All three models come with the standard cleaning station, which is visually reminiscent of the Roborock Curv and, among other things, washes the mops and cleans out the dust container. The Romo P, the top model in the series, features additional technologies such as UV for disinfection and odor prevention.
Furthermore, the Romo P, which is available in China for 6,799 yuan (equivalent to just over $945), features a completely transparent design (station and robot vacuum), which is quite unusual. In the Romo A, which costs around $755, only the robot is transparent, while the Romo S, for the equivalent of just over $640, comes in classic white. All models are currently only available in China. Information on a possible global launch is still pending.
