Tenku has now released the Luna in Japan as the country's first PC gaming handheld. Teased last week, the Luna looks like the MSI Claw (curr. $529 on Amazon) or ROG Ally X at first glance. To that end, the Luna measures 256 x 113.5 x 22.5~36 mm and weighs 666 g.
However, it contains a few key differences, such as AMD's older Ryzen 7 7840U APU. Effectively matching the performance of the Ryzen Z1 Extreme and Ryzen 7 8840U in many tasks, the Ryzen 7 7840U should still handle most triple-A games at 720p and beyond.
Surprisingly, Tenku only offers the Luna with 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 6,400 MT/s, despite rivals tending to offer 16 GB SKUs by default. The Tenku Luna also comes with 1 TB or 2 TB of storage complemented by a microSD 4.0 reader. On top of that, the handheld utilises a 50.04 Wh battery that supports 65 W charging with a Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E capable modem.
Meanwhile, visuals are handled by a 7-inch IPS panel that outputs at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Currently, the Tenku Luna is only sold in Japan, where it starts at JPY 79,800 (~$552) on sale from JPY 86,900 (~$601). For reference, Asus charges JPY 139,800 (~$967) for the ROG Ally X in Japan. While pre-orders should start shipping on May 30, there is no word yet on international availability.
