Less than a week has passed since an image of a rumoured Anbernic gaming handheld appeared on Chinese social media. Reportedly, the unnamed device could be one of almost a dozen devices that Anbernic brings to market this year after releasing the RG34XX SP and RG557 (curr. $339.99 on Amazon). In short, the mysterious device resembled a modernised Xperia Play thanks to its slide-up display and hidden controls.
Now, it seems that Anbernic could have a second device utilising this form factor too, but with a second display. Based on the information that has emerged so far, it looks like Anbernic is using the PSP Go as design inspiration. However, the so-called Anbernic Slide has a second display and control layout that builds on the Nintendo 3DS.
Specifics remain unknown for now though, such as Anbernic's chipset choice or approximate release date. Seemingly, some believe that the device could double as a smartphone, which may also be true of Anbernic's other rumoured slidable gaming handheld thanks if it features the same MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset as the RG557. Given the company's quick turnaround between devices, we would be surprised to see Anbernic begin teasing a fresh gaming handheld before the end of the month.
