Ayaneo continues to drip feed information about the Flip 1S, having already revealed that it has switched to a CNC metal housing for its next gaming handheld. The company has also hinted that the Flip 1S is only coming in a dual-screen (DS) variant, at least initially.
Unfortunately, a full unveiling continues to escape Ayaneo's social media time for the time being. Nonetheless, it has confirmed the inclusion of a major display upgrade between the Flip DS and Flip 1S DS. Specifically, Ayaneo has decided to include an OLED display for a more 'vibrant...lifelike...responsive...[and] immersive gaming experience'. As far as we can tell, the Flip 1S DS retains the rather thick bezels of its predecessor.
Also, it is unclear whether the use of OLED panel technology will extend to the handheld's smaller secondary display. Potentially, the 1.15:1 and 3.92-inch OLED panel from the Pocket DMG (curr. $511 on Amazon) could be an ideal candidate for the Flip 1S DS' secondary display, though. Ayaneo has not confirmed panel specifications for the main display at this point, either. With that being said, we suspect it will return to the OLED panel it uses inside the Ayaneo 3, which outputs at 1080p with a 144 Hz refresh rate, 110% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 800 nits peak brightness. Presumably, Ayaneo will reveal more details about the Flip 1S DS before the end of the month.
