The Oukitel WP300 is a modular and particularly rugged smartphone that’s now available with a significant discount. The handset features a secondary display and a flashlight that can also be used as a camping light.
We've already reported on the Oukitel WP300, and as previously announced, the phone has now become available for purchase. Specifically, the Chinese manufacturer is selling it through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for $399, with deliveries expected in July. Basically, this is a pre-order promotion in disguise, as Oukitel is an established manufacturer in the niche of rugged smartphones and is also selling its products on Amazon.
The WP300 is modular, as it can accommodate a lamp module and a display module. This makes the phone suitable for outdoor activities like camping, for instance. Similar to the display module, the camping light can also be worn on a wristband, which practically turns it into a smartwatch. This wearable has an additional feature as it also doubles as an earbud or headset for making phone calls. All in all, this Oukitel smartphone is very versatile and can make separate gadgets obsolete.
In terms of specs, the WP300 measures 6.98 x 3.24 x 0.92 inches and is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The 6.8-inch display has a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and refresh rate of 120Hz, while the main camera boasts 108 megapixels. This Android device comes with MIL-STD-810H certification, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a very large 16,000mAh battery. It also supports reverse charging at up to 18 watts and can be used like a power bank. We expect that the WP300 will eventually become available on Amazon as well.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
